Peninsula Tractor Organization Receives Grant From Bayer Fund

Local farmer Laurie Dryden recently directed a $2,500 America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation, sponsored by Bayer Fund, to the Peninsula Tractor Organization.

The Peninsula Tractor Organization has used these funds to run a water line from the neighboring apartment complex to the Nassawadox Sawmill located in Nassawadox, VA.

The Peninsula Tractor Organization would like to thank Laurie Dryden for submitting for the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program grant. The Nassawadox Sawmill is the site of the organization’s ongoing farm museum project to help preserve and celebrate the rich agricultural heritage of the area. There was no running water at the Sawmill and this was a safety concern for both members and visitors. The Peninsula Tractor Organization would also like to thank the owners of the apartment complex for their part in making this a reality.

Since 2010, the America’s Farmers programs have awarded more than $60 million to nonprofits, aspiring ag students, and public schools across rural America. Farmers know the needs of their communities best, so the America’s Farmers programs rely on them to help identify the worthiest causes.

The Grow Communities program partners with farmers across the country to provide nonprofit organizations with resources to strengthen their local communities. Each August, farmers can enter for the chance to direct a $2,500 Grow Communities donation to a local eligible nonprofit of their choice. Farmers have directed donations to food banks, emergency response organizations, schools, youth agriculture programs, and many others that reflect the spirit and support the vibrancy of rural America.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone, including those in rural regions, and farmers play a critical role in helping communities overcome challenges, like the ones we’re currently facing,” said Al Mitchell, Bayer Fund president. “Bayer Fund is proud to work side-by-side with farmers to identify local eligible nonprofit organizations that are able to provide their residents with solutions that leave a lasting impact.”

The Peninsula Tractor Organization thanks the Bayer Fund for its generous support of our mission to preserve the agricultural heritage of the area and share this with others. To learn how you can be an America’s Farmers Grow Communities recipient, visit www.AmericasFarmers.com. The America’s Farmers Grow Communities 2022 program started on August 1, 2021, and farmers will once again have the opportunity to enroll for a chance to direct a donation to a local eligible nonprofit of their choice.
